We’ve had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Pharma LEx Summit this week in Olympia organised by IQPC (where else could we possibly be?!) There was a sense of having ‘found our people’ as we engaged with people during the 2 days to talk all things launch.

Reflecting on a very relevant and thought provoking Summit, topics spanned ( amongst others) the use of Generative AI in Launch, Continuous Learning within Organisations to improve launch capabilities, Digital Patient Engagement, Lifecycle Management, Launching with consideration of Country access archetypes, Launching into new / competiitve markets, Enhancing early access capabilities to maximise launch potential.

Our key takeaways from this Summit were:-

🚀 Regardless of their primary topic, nearly all speakers included the importance of cross-functional working, decision making, and communication as part of their learnings. This has also been our observation working on so many client launches over the years. When conducting post launch debrief workshops or Launch ‘Close’ workshops we find that communication, clarity of roles and responsibilities, value gained from launch team meetings and the ability to make agile decisions to adapt to changes in the market, a latest dataset, or external policy are the factors that dominate the discussion nearly every time. Psycholgical safety and the need to communicate changes to plan or timings internally can have a big influence on launch success. Launch plans can’t be written once and set in stone, they need constant reassessment, validating, and re-planning during the countdown to launch.

🚀 Secondly, to be in a room full of people passionate about launch and committed enough to give up 2 days to discuss launch excellence felt like a milestone moment, a watershed. This feels like just the beginning of launch excellence as a discipline being given the recognition it deserves, and I look forward to seeing this unique community continue to grow, and learn from one another

Congratulations to Mhairi Macbride for organising a superb event and to Paula Albuquerque, PharmD, MBA, MSc for ensuring a smooth transition between sessions and being a great chair for the two days.
